Problem with Canon i9900 Printhead

I have a Canon i9900 printer and have been experiencing the following error code...

Operator error.
Press the printer's RESUME button.
If this doesn't clear the error, cancel printing and turn the printer off and then on again.

I have done some research on-line and have already removed the printhead and soaked it in water over night, but that did not fix the problem. My next step seems to be to buy a new printhead for around $170 on Amazon.

My question is...how likely will the problem be solved by purchasing a new printhead? I would just as soon not spend $170 and still not have a working printer.

I had to replace a print head on an HP Printer. It is better and more economical in the long run to replace the printer. The new printer will not be a lot more than a retail print head and come with a warranty. I just replaced my printer.

I'd say it is unlikely to fix the problem. I have a canon printer that also wouldn't print and the error code told me there was a problem with the printhead. I then found out that was a relatively common problem with several different canon printer models and it had to do with defective electronics, and not the printhead.

Besides that, printers these days are cheap, you will likely be able to get a new printer for s170.-- (or even for less).

I believe there probably was a solution, but no one was able to provide it.

Telling someone to just go and buy a new printer is like someone offering the advice to reformat the hard drive and reinstall the operating system to solve a particular software problem.

As I mentioned, the solution would have been to repair or replace the printer electronics, not replace the head, and that would have been far more expensive than a new printer, so the only sane solution was to get another printer.

Replacing the print head is expensive and we suggested replacing the printer as a less expensive solution overall. To say "no solution" is not accurate.
