Access 2010: How to filter subform by first letter

Can anyone tell me the best way to filter a subform by first letter? My guess is to use an option group with a button for each letter A-Z. There should be a way with code using Select Case or If ElseIf where if you click on the "A" button you only see last names (in this case) that begin with A and so on. Am I on the right track or is there a better way?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Have a combobox with the options. This allows the user just to press, say, G to filter on G.
In the AfterUpdate of the combobox, have code like this:

Me!SubformControlName.Form.Filter = "LastName Like '" & Me!YourCombobox.Value & "*'"
Me!SubformControlName.Form.FilterOn = True
