Trust between Windows server 2003 domain and 2012 domain

I can't find this info anywhere.  We have two 2003 domains that are being upgraded.  We are introducing new 2012 servers, joining the domains, making them domain controllers, then extending the schemas and eventually raising the functional level to 2012.

However, we can't do them at the same time.  My question is, can a 2012 domain establish a two way trust with a 2003 domain?  The two domains do share resources.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Yes a Windows Server 2012 can establish a twoway trust relationship with 2003 domain. However for this to work your Forest funtional level must be 2000 native or 2003. Same must be set on the domain functional level too.
