QuickBooks Premier Retail 2014-Payroll Problem

User is opening QuickBooks, logging in and the payroll information is not there. She exits Quickbooks, logs back in and it appears properly. Any ideas? Thanks.

That happened to me for the first time last week and I'm using QuickBooks Premier Contractor 2013. I'm sorry that's no help but since I didn't do anything differently, I assumed it was on Intuit's end or some bug with the payroll feature. Scary to say the least. I hope somebody chimes in with something more helpful.
First make sure QuickBooks is up to date (updates have been made available for QB V2014 and V2015).

Second, copy the database and TLG file to a good solid local computer with QB installed. Open the company file (database) locally and then do a Rebuild. QB, File, Utilities, Rebuild. Make sure the rebuild completes properly.

Move the company file and TLG file back to the server. Run the server manager and scan for the company file.

Get the network troubleshooting tool from Intuit and check your firewall that it is not blocking anything. Remove any firewall blockages.

Now, for completeness, I would restart the workstations, connect up and test.

I run payroll (and have for years). It worked without error in QB V2014 and works now without error in V2015.

Coincidentally, the user just reported the following error when trying to back up the database on their local machine, after trying to back up to a network folder. Either way she get the same error:

"verify has detected a problem that prevents backup from continuing quickbooks"

Any ideas?

Thanks again.
Copy the file to a local computer. QB must be closed for this to happen.

Open QB and do a Rebuild on the copied company file. Skip the Verify step. If you cannot do this, contact Intuit Support and ask for their company file service. You may need to send it them for repair.
The rebuild was completed but the problem still exists. See the attached screen shot. One shows the payroll section populated properly with all icons present. The second shows the payroll section with just two icons present. This is what shows up as the problem. Restarting quick books again usually makes this problem go away.
