Coldfusion: HTML and database inegration

I have been reading about coldfusion, and apparently it connects HTML with database support.

Does that mean it will connect a HTML GUI screen directly to database field, providing direct coupling between the two (not totally unlike the old dbase II) ?

Thanks

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Not exactly... You still need to define your data sources in the ColdFusion Administrator and provide define a query that returns your result set.

It's a tag based language similar to HTML; however, the engine behind these magical tags is purely JAVA. Yet, you don't have to know JAVA to use CF.

I use it more like middle-ware in my environment - automated SFTP, connecting to Active Directory, accessing DB2 & SQL Server, pdf generation, and creating web applications...
