Javascript escape single quote

I cannot seem to get this work:

blockText = blockText += "<a href='#' onclick='getVideo("+useArray[x]+")'><img class='vidThumb' src='//i1.ytimg.com/vi/" + useArray[x] + "/hqdefault.jpg' border=0 /></a>"

Open in new window

useArray[x] is a string.  When i try escaping, I get a space in there. I've tried:

blockText = blockText += "<a href='#' onclick='getVideo(\'"+useArray[x]+"\')'><img class='vidThumb' src='//i1.ytimg.com/vi/" + useArray[x] + "/hqdefault.jpg' border=0 /></a>"

Open in new window

but I get spaces in the parameter.

Any suggestions on what i need to do to escape the quote correctly?

Thanks for your help!!!

Hi,
may be this one is the right one:
blockText += '<a href="#" onclick="getVideo(\'' + useArray[x] + '\')"><img class="vidThumb" src="//i1.ytimg.com/vi/' + useArray[x] + '/hqdefault.jpg" border="0" /></a>';
