"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Perhaps this:

double rounded = Math.round(original*10000.0) / 10000.0 ;

What Doug has posted above is correct. However, if you real question is regarding how do you round a double for presentation to the user/writing to some output, then more likely you are concerned with how to convert a double to a String while limiting the number of decimal places presented. This would be accomplished using features of the NumberFormat / DecimalFormat classes. If this is indeed what you are after and need further help with those classes, let us know.
