Upgrading Vcenter and Esxi from 5.1 to 5.5 or should I go to 6?

Im running vcenter 5.1 and esxi 5.1 1065491 at the moment. My hardware are mostly HP DL380 G7's and G8's which I have confirmed on the HCL.

I would like to upgrade but i wondering should I go to 5.5 or straight to 6?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

At present we are recommending the following:-

1. New Installations - move straight to VMware vSphere 6.0, of if you require 6.0 features, and your hardware is supported.

2. Current user of vSphere 5.0 - upgrade to  VMware vSphere 5.5, check hardware is supported.
