.NET Update Will Not Install

After a Windows 7 Pro SP1 repair install to resolve Windows Update issues, when I boot I receive a notification that .NET 4 Framework must be repaired and that I should not switch the computer off until Setup has finished. I am also unable to install the Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile for Windows 7 x64-based Systems (KB982670):

"Installation date: ‎4/‎15/‎2015 8:05 PM

Installation status: Failed

Error details: Code 643

Update type: Recommended

The Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile provides a subset of features from the .NET Framework 4. The Client Profile is designed to run client applications and to enable the fastest possible deployment for Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) and Windows Forms technology."

Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Also try .NET Framework Setup Verifier.

http://cid-27e6a35d1a492af7.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Blog%7C_Tools/netfx%7C_setupverifier%7C_new.zip

The .zip file that contains the tool also contains a file named history.txt that lists when the most recent version of the tool was published and what changes have been made to the tool over time.

I have used this to test, verify and repair .NET Framework.
Did you run windows update after repair install? Then run.net install.

Thank you

I tried the KB2698555 tool without success.

The tool in the .zip file was apparently unsuccessful, I have attached the log file.

How do I run .net install?

Any further suggestions accepted with thanks.

According to the log attached, .NET 4 (any version) is not installed.

Go to Programs and Features (control panel), Windows Features and enable .NET Framework in Windows Features.

Did you follow that advice?

.NET Updates are best installed separate from any other Updates.
There is a fix it for this condition. Give it a try let us know the results.

Thank you all, thank you John - switching .NET on certainly solved the update problem. The message warning me that .NET 4.5 needs to be repaired still appears when I reboot but there are now no other symptoms.
