Hi,

How do you convert an xml file to excel (.xls) using VB.NET with the data elements as column headers?

Thanks,

Excel to XML (as the title says) or XML to Excel (as the body says)?

For both cases, I have used Aspose library (commercial product - not free). An example is available from http://www.aspose.com/community/forums/thread/508106/xml-file-to-excel-file-conversion.aspx.

A free but limited solution is explained on my blog at http://emoreau.com/Entries/Articles/2013/07/A-free-LINQ-to-Excel-and-CSV-provider.aspx.

Hi,

I meant from XML to Excel, unfortunately I will not be able to use a commercial product. I will look into the second link.

Thanks,

Victor

You are currently able to read xml file into your program so all you need to do is loop through your datatables and dump the data in excel either using ADO.NET or Excel Interop.
