Login Through Facebook

I'm trying to figure out how to login through facebook so I can use the technique to authenticate users logging in through facebook.

Obviously, from the result, I don't have a clue.

See attached.

The html file is what I am running in FireFox browser EXCEPT I replaced the App ID (which I got from Facebook) with the xxxxxxxx for security.

The file Fb_login_error.jpg is the result of running the html page.

The file fb_site_config.jpg is where I gave Facebook the url of my site.

Can someone help?

Thanks

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Put in the correct app id facebook has given you, and you shouldn't have any more issues.

window.fbAsyncInit = function() {
  FB.init({
    appId      : 'xxxxxxxx',
    cookie     : true,  // enable cookies to allow the server to access
                        // the session
    xfbml      : true,  // parse social plugins on this page
    version    : 'v2.2' // use version 2.2
  });

Go to settings, then the Advanced tab. At the bottom "Embedded browser OAuth Login" - Please verify it's enabled. If that doesn't work, also put in http://  in front of your domain.

To Frank Pennock,

(1) I put the xxxxxxxx in for security purposes since EE questions are open to the public. The real script has the identical coding except the REAL App ID is there instead of xxxxxxxx.

(2) I am using FireFox. Under Options, Advanced there are 5 tabs. There is nothing about Embedded browser OAuth Login on any of the tabs. Attached is network tab; if it's elsewhere, please advise.

(3) I have no clue how to get back to the place on facebook where I specify the url. I don't know how I stumbled on it in the first place. Can you advise?

Thanks!

I read the #1 answer you gave after I posted that, so I'm sorry about not seeing it first. The page you want is here:

https://developers.facebook.com/apps

And the steps I listed were actually to be used while on the app page. You can get there by clicking the app id from the url I posted above, and I should've been more clear. Let me know if that helps!

OK, I found that stuff. See attached.

Seems like it's all set.

I just tried again, still has that same error.

Make sure you also have the redirect URI set and enable the Browser Oauth which is also disabled. I would also put the URL in for your mobile site to be the same as your site URL. Please test with those modifications.

I noticed you have an error in the configuration of your database, and I'm unable to access the site now and test. Can you please let me know when it's up, and if you still need help resolving this? Thanks

Frank,

I have had no time today to deal with this, I decided now to remove the delete request but of course EE does not allow that.

I modified things, I don;t even know where you are looking

No worries. I was looking at http://www.rkassoc.org when I mentioned the error. That's what the error on the page indicated.

Frank, that's a holding repository, the real sites are in subfolders.
