Summing a total for expenses of just one individual

In my sample file attached I would like to sum the total count of expenses for Jane only.  What would be the formula?

For this sort of situation I would aleways use a PivotTable. There's a couple of examples in your sample file below, I would also suggest converting the source data toan Excel Table
