Google Chrome pinned icon doesn't activate when open it display an additional icon in task-bar

The Chrome icon on the task bar keeps creating another icon.  It doesn't behave as the other apps that when opened it gets "highlighted" or "selected" in its same place.  Below is an example of what is happening.

 icon
(please notice that when Excel is open, the icon is only one, it doesn't create an additional icon as in Chrome)

How can we have it as it was, that the icon seems "selected" when opened?

Found solution!

We were about to totally uninstall Chrome.  Though solution provided in ID: 40729408 fixed the problem per se, it deleted all our configuration, links, plug-ins, etc.  Since we use these setup, the answer provided by Santosh Gupta was not the solution.

After searching we found a link that fixed our problem and didn't delete our configurations (see http://www.ghacks.net/2010/10/12/fix-pinned-items-opening-as-new-icons-in-windows-7-taskbar/):

- click and open the troubled Chrome.
- unpin the original item.
- right-click the newly spawned item and select to pin it to the taskbar.
- move the new pinned item to the location of the original item.
- close it and re-open it.

Hi Rayluvs,

goto  "C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome"  and delete user data folder.

Worked, but it deletes all our configurations, links, plugins, etc. (it's a lot and luckily we backed up the folder prior delete).

Is there way without resetting the browser?

Though Santosh Gupta answer was not the correct way to solve this problem, it did fix the "multiple icon", thus awarded it.  Nevertheless, our solution is the correct one and chosen as "Best Solution" so other members can refer to it.
