Windows 2012 Remote Desktop Session will not close "Waiting for system event notification service"

We have multiple Windows 2012 servers that been experiencing issues with remote desktop session lately at random times. Signout/logout/disconnect from remote desktop sessions on the server will stall with error message "Waiting on system event notification service"...and never disconnects. If we close session and attempt to login again, it brings us right back to this message. The only way we have been able to clear is to hard boot the server...which is an issue obviously. I have found a few things online about Windows live messenger but we do not have installed on these servers. Please help!!!

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.
