7Zip program

Where can I can get a safe copy of the 7Zip  program to uncompress an .img file?

Is 7Zip program used only an .ISO file?
DO you have to rename the image file from .IMG to .ISO before using the 7 ZIP program?

Here is the official (and safe!) website for 7-Zip:
http://www.7-zip.org/

It supports unpacking ISO, not IMG. Here are the supported formats:

Packing/unpacking: 7z, XZ, BZIP2, GZIP, TAR, ZIP and WIM

Unpacking only: ARJ, CAB, CHM, CPIO, CramFS, DEB, DMG, FAT, HFS, ISO, LZH, LZMA, MBR, MSI, NSIS, NTFS, RAR, RPM, SquashFS, UDF, VHD, WIM, XAR and Z

Regards, Joe
