Help with HTML, background color of rows with spacing

I have this markup for a table

border-spacing:10px 0px; padding:3px 3px 3px 3px

See attached image.  I have a table with two column.  I want a 10px or so space between the columns. I know I could add a third column "blank" to do this as well.  But, I was trying to stick with two columns.   So, I have 10px horizontal spacing, which gives me the spacing I want, but the light blue background is not continuous.  image1.png

try a margin on the TD rather then a spacing.

<td style="margin-left: 10px">

margin did not seem to work, but this did.

<td style=""padding-right:25px"">DISTRICT LEADERSHIP</td>

Thanks!
