I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Source Server Datastore speed, network speed, Destination Server Datastore speed, all contribute to the speed of transfer.

Data transfers can be slow.

Sometimes, it can be quicker, to move VMs to NFS datastore, and from NFS datastore to server local disk, using NFS and Jumbo Frames.

You can check if the network cards are set to the correct speed and duplex settings.

or you could build a trunk network, e.g. two bonded 1GBe nic ports.
