PHP MSSQL Extension Not Loading on IIS7/Server 2008

Hi all, trust you are well.

Freshly installed Windows 2008 R2 Server. Enabled IIS. Downloaded PHP (VC9 x86 Non Thread Safe (2015-Apr-15 23:09:35)) from PHP.net.
Installed the Microsoft Drivers for PHP for SQL Server 3.1 from MS site.
Setup Handlers FastCGI
Extracted the PHP to a C:\PHP folder.
IIS PHP Manager installed - picks up the version correct, PHPInfo() displays correct.
MySQL Extension link works. All other PHP scripting works.

MS SQL Extension just doesn't load.
Error message on my PHP test page: Fatal error: Call to undefined function mssql_connect() in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\PHPtest.php on line 75
MS SQL module doesn't show under the extensions of PHPInfo().

What am I missing?

Thanks
Sean

The 'mssql' drivers are obsolete as of PHP 5.3 on Windows.  You have to use the 'sqlsrv' drivers.  You say that you have installed them.  Unfortunately, that also means rewriting your code because it is not a 'drop-in' replacement.  More info here: http://php.net/manual/en/book.sqlsrv.php  If you do not have the Microsoft SQL Server on that machine, you have to separately install the SQL Native Client.
