"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

If you're logging to an external syslog server, you can scan the log files for the time signature of the last link up message for each interface.

If not, you can check the packets input and output via "show interface" or an SNMP query. If you have a zero reading on these, there has been no activity since the last time the counters were cleared, which is most often since the system was last restarted.

For IOS: show int status
For CATos: show port status
