Is there a way to turn MS Access into a multi user Database for like 3 people.

I have a Access Database using old format .mdb I need MS ACCESS to be able to accept 3 users all connected is this possible it's a VB.NET PROGRAM with MS Access back end. I never used the accdb format and also can I use a connection string with a password also if I secure DB with a password.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

What does the VB.NET program say when you try to connect 3 users?
Bob LearnedCommented:
You most certainly can use Access in a multi-user environment.  I have seen people foolishly connect 200+ users to the same database.  Access is best up to about 10 simultaneous users.

In regard to the Password question: Yes, you can password protect your database, and your connection string would look something like:

Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=C:\myFolder\myAccessFile.accdb;
Jet OLEDB:Database Password=MyDbPassword;
