Fastest way to copy files to ESXi host

What way would be the fastest to copy files to an esxi host?  Using WINSCP, or using the vsphere client datastore browser.  I have about 165GB to copy.  I used WINSCP to copy from the host and it took about 4:25.

No matter what folk tell you, it will take the same length of time.

I would just use the Datastore browser.

People come up with all sorts of fairly tales, that WinSCP, or Veeam FastSCP is faster, or "where different coloured under wear! purple works fastest!" VMware Urban Myths or Legends!

BUT, when it comes down to it, it takes the same time, use the datastore browser, start the copy and go and do something else. (don't sit their watching paint dry!).

There is a quicker method, and that's to copy your file to an NFS share, and mount that NFS share to the ESXi server, and then copy the file from the NFS mount. (but you have then got two copy operations, and if you total the time of both, you are very close to where you started!).

Thanks Andrew.  That is what I suspected, but wanted to ask.  I already watched it for 4:25, will not do that again!
