Word 2010 Custom Page SIze and Numbering Throws off Formatting

I am writing a small box that needs to be in the following parameters.

Page Size: 6 x 9
Mirror Margins ( even pages on left / odd pages on Right)
borders are .5"

Now I am not the best a Word but everytime I try to inset a page numbering scheme, it throws off my formatting. Meaning it bumps line 5 - 10 lines off up or down on the page where they should be so by the end of the document everything if off.

What is the proper way for me to do this

Put a Section Break at the beginning and end of the page(s) that need to be blank: Page Layout tab, Page Setup group, Breaks button, Section Breaks/Next Page Item. Having done that, you will have to use the 'Link to Previous' button in the Navigation group of the 'Header & Footer Tools'/Design tab to unlink the footer of each section from the previous. After that you can delete the page field for your blank pages.

Are you inserting the Page numbering in the footer section? What margin setting do you have for the Footer?

Thanks

Are you inserting the page numbers into the header, footer or the body of the document?

By scheme, do you mean that you are trying to add more than the page numbers? If so, what exactly are you adding?

It isn't clear from your description exactly what is happening and why.

I have a simple word document that I wrote. After I finished it wanted to enabled page numbering so that even pages are on the left even on right and blank pages are not numbered.

When I do this it throws off the formatting of the document, pages number a through off, blank pages are numbered, items which center are now at the top of the document.

Can you send me steps I should follow to do this properly... Now good in WOrd

You can insert page numbers in several ways.

This way you will only get page numbers, and nothing else:
Select the position for the page numbers. Hit Ctrl+F9 to create an empty field. Type the word 'PAGE' between the two curly brackets that should appear. Hit Alt+F9 to hide the field code and show the field result.

Other ways include using the Page Number button on the Header  & Footer Tools/Design Tab, Insertng a field from Insert tab, Text group, Quick Parts button, Field,,, item. You can also find Page Numbers galleries in the Building Blocks organiser.

When a document is printed in book form, the page on the left hand side if the open book will automatically have an even number, while that on the left will be odd, so there is nothing special to be done.

Omitting the numbering from blank pages isn't quite so easy. It would involve creating separate Sections by inserting Section breaks, and deleting the page field from blank pages in empty sections.
