Keyboard Issue Windows Open Automatic Won't Close

I have Sculpt Ergonomic Desktop .. there is an issue with the Keyboard: when I open Outlook and click on Search field and begin typing , the Address Book opens and it will NOT close.  if I open Internet Explorer and type Backspace, IE begins flashing NON STOP (like it's trying to go Full Screen/NON Full Screen over and over and over and over).  If I open Excel, tabs (on bottom) get created NON stop .. left 1 Excel spreadsheet open and saw 1000 + tabs (on bottom).

I tried going to Device Manager , UNINSTALLED mouse and keyboard devices also checked box to delete/remove driver.  Shutdown computer.  Unplugged Sculpt Ergonomic Desktop wireless USB receiver.  Reconnected Sculpt Ergonomic Desktop wireless USB receiver (different USB port).  Turned PC ON.  Same problem. !!!

Tried a regular Dell (wired) keyboard - and it works fine , NO issues.

How can I FIX : Sculpt Ergonomic Desktop issue???

Either use a different keyboard and mouse or else look for updated drivers for mouse and keyboard from the manufacturer. Also look for video, chipset and BIOS drivers from the manufacturer. There have been dozens of Windows 7 updates and corrections in the past 90 days so updates may be conflicting with legacy drivers.

As both the Outlook address book and IE full screen keyboard shortcuts are F11 I suspect you've either got a stuck key or faulty keyboard.  How does the Sculpt KB behave on another machine?

None of they keys look pressed.  Need to try on another PC ..,
Any reason why it would be faulty?  Purchased about 3 months ago ..

Since the other keyboard worked, that is why I suggested checking for driver updates. And, yes, by all means, try on another computer.

Check about warranty if it is that new.

I do not know. I assumed from your comment the special keyboard had a driver. Keyboards usually do not have drivers. Mice often have drivers.

But you say New Keyboard (3 months) so not broken and Dell Keyboard works. So I assumed a driver issue (what else)

I tried to download / install : Mouse and Keyboard Center 2.3 64-bit (exe)  , , but got error that it is already installed after :

Something has gone wrong with your Windows 7 system. If a Dell keyboard and mouse works, use that until such time as you can make repairs.


1. Run System File Checker. Open cmd.exe with Run as Administrator and run SFC /SCANNOW and allow to complete. Restart and test.

2. If SFC does not help, run Windows 7 Repair Install. You need a working recovery partition or the Windows 7 DVD. Here is a Seven Forums Tutorial to help you.

3. It may be worth backing up the computer and reinstalling Windows.
