Word documents become uneditable

Using Microsoft Office 2013 running under Win7:

There is an annoying behavior: Any given Word document will become uneditable after a short number of revisions. Have to save it with a different name.

Is it possible to stop this from happening? Doesn’t seem to happen with Excel documents, only Word.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi,

Please start with installing MS Office 2013 SP1, then do a windows update through control panel with the settings download and let me choose when to install updates and proceed to install all MS 2013 updates.

Take it from here.

Also if this doesnt resolve the issue are you saving locally or to a network location?

Thank you.

To answer your question: I store all my in-process "working" Word documents on an external hard drive.
