I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Start troubleshooting by accessing the share by IP address.  Open a command prompt on the problem computer and type:

NET USE X: \\IPaddress_of_server\foldername.   Press enter. You must authenticate with user name and password for the server.

Does this work?  If no, what System Error do you get?

If you use NET USE X: \\IPaddress_of_server\foldername from a command line, you should get a System Error nn - not an 0x800... error. I do.

Look through this article:

because most of the suggestions come up Firewall, DNS or antivirus.

System Errors are easier to use if you get one.
