Does VPN have to be active on every machine in my LAN?

I have set up a VPN service (Private Internet Access) using my Windows 7 PC.  All seems to be well; WHOAMI reports random IP addresses each launch time.  I also have a ubuntu machine on the same LAN.  I connect to is using TightVNC.  If I log into the ubuntu machine, then launch a browser from that machine, is it also via the VPN, or do I need to make a separate VPN installation on it?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Unless you have Site to Site VPN (and it does not appear so) then VPN will only be active on the machine (or machines) it is installed on. If you do not need it on all machines, then do not install it on those machines.
