use of JkMount in httpd config?

Hello,

I see following entry in my httpd.conf

JkMount /app* worker1

Open in new window


I would like to understand what it does

Please note I have both tomcat and web server running on the same server and there is app.war deployed in tomcat server

The access log for Apache will show the request it proxied to Tomcat.
The Tomcat access log will show the requests it served.

This page shows the default directories for the workers.properties and also how you can change the location. If that fails you can search for the file.

This assigns specific URL patterns to be served by Tomcat.
Apache acts as a proxy to Tomcat for those URLs.
In your example, any URL whose path begins with /app followed by any characters will be served by the worker1 worker.
The workers are defined in TOMCAT_HOME/conf/jk/workers.properties and you usually have the hostname, port, and other details, which you can find here:

I am not seeing workers.properties anywhere in TOMCAT_HOME directory

Also Does tomcat maintain any log file for the request coming through Apache web server
