Mac OS X 10.10.3 'Staff' File Permissions
Mac OS X 10.10.3 File Permissions
CMD-I for .jpg file returns for Sharing and Permissions:
[Owner] (Me) - Read & Write
Staff - Read Only
Everyone - Read & Write
Attempt to change Staff to ‘Read & Write’ returns: “This operation cannot be completed because you don’t have the necessary permission”
What is ’Staff’ and why do I [Owner] not have permission?
This makes no sense to me - if I own the file and have given everyone R/W permission - what role does ’Staff’ play?
My goal is to copy file(s) from Mac-1 to Mac-2 over CAT5 local network

Good article - Thanks!
Read-only staff permissions are normal. There is no need to tinker with them.
