Is AIK 8 backwards compatible with windows 7 installs?

I have been trying to learn the whole windows deployment services.  I come across many different ways to deploy a windows OS over the network.  Right now, I am trying to  use MDT 2013 on a windows server 2012 with WDS installed.  I also found that you need to use AIK windows 7 or AIK windows 8.  I am trying to set this up to push out windows 7 x64 Pro over the network.  My question is, it seems to be harder to find the right AIK win 7 x64.  Can you use AIK 8 to install windows 7 machines?  Is MDT and WDS Server OS Specific or are they all backwards compatible.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

There is no AIK  for Windows 8.0
Microsoft calls it ADK8.0 and for Windows 8.1 ADK8.1

Yes, they are backwards compatible.
