File Cluster Failover Fails/Hangs Intermittently

Hi,

We are running Windows Server 2008 R2 Failover file cluster. We have noticed that sometimes automatically fail-over hangs, fails or stuck in pending state. It doesn't happen frequently.

When it happens, we have to restart one of the nodes and it gets failover. Sometimes, few cluster disks still fail and we have to bring them online manually.

So, how can I troubleshoot these events or where should I start?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You need to start from cluster logs. There you can see errors related to cluster issue.
