Veeam vmdk cannot open

After a power outage, we cannot power on Veeam on ip 10.10.1.28, Cannot open the disk it depends on. We have 2 physical servers in 1 cluster. The vmdk is on a Qnap drive. We also get the error vSphere AH unsuccessfully failed over this virtual machine. vSphereHA will retry.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Okay, lets take some steps one at a time....

So, when you try to power up the VM, what is the error message ?

Does the VM appear in the inventory ?

Does the VM state Inaccessible or Orphaned ?

Can you browse the datastore on the Qnap, and check if all the files are present, and the VMX, and TWO VMDK files, are present.

Hi,
well, same here, this asks for more details please provide us some information.

You have a Veeam server on a VM.
A Veeam repository on a Qnap.

Is this all your Veeam infrastructure?
Which is the file system on the Qnap? (NTFS, NFS, ...)
which vmdk is onthe Qnap, the one belonging to the Veeam VM?

It seems your HA feature did not work for your Veeam VM. Should be a misconfiguration or something preventing it to work correctly (passthrough device for example, is not supported).

Thank you for the responses, the best course for us was to rebuild the virtual appliance.

Rather than troubleshoot, I went ahead and rebuilt the VM
