Hi Experts,
Will you please help me to calculate - Split(Bonus) & Merge ratio of stock price in excel?
Say stock price is 1500 (Previous close)
if stock price on next day opens at 500 what is the ratio?
if stock price on next day opens at 1000 what is the ratio?
if stock price on next day opens at 2000 what is the ratio?
if stock price on next day opens at 4500 what is the ratio?
i know the ratios but need to find - how do i calculate in excel. this ratio must be in round number.|
Problem im facing is - if any merger or split happen in stock need to recalculate older data to adjust this corporate action.
say in case 1st ratio is 1:2 so for every 1 share 2 shares allotted as split (Bonus) so i have to divide all older data for that stock prices by 3 to adjust this corporate action. these ratios are in whole numbers.i need one number which i have to divide or multiply to older stock prices.

I'm confused here what you want to do..Can you post a sample workbook..Just create a dummy workbook...and show me what you want to do..And i will either design a formula or code for you which does that for you...

Ok See row 99 & 100 in attached WB.
Closing price of stock as on 27 sep 2006 is 1726.40 and open as on 28 sep 2006 is 897.93...it is actually 1 share bonus against 1 share that is why stock price is nearly half of the previous closing. so i need formula to find ratio. in this case it is 1:1 i.e. one bonus share against one share. i i will do divide old historical prices by 2 and multiply volume by 2.

So need this magic number "2" (multiplier in case of merger or divider in case of bonus or split) via formula

Won't a simple round function like this does what you are looking for..refer to your workbook...

in case 1 formula bang on target but not for rest
for case 2 ratio is 2:1 i.e. for each 2 share 1 bonus share given
for case 3 wrong case ignore pls apology
for case 4 ratio is 3:1 i.e. for each 3 share merge to 1 share (1500*3=4500)
so how do i get multiplier via formula in above all cases
