Adobe PDF shrink size of document

I have an application that creates very large PDF files. I need to find a way to shrink them. A one page PDF comes out of the application around 3 meg. The users do not have Adobe Standard, they only have Adobe Reader.

What is the easiest and least expensive way to change the file size in an existing PDF?

Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You may use a free online tool to compress PDFs:

Alternatively, you could distill the PDF by installing an application like PDFCreator that can be used as a virtual printer to create PDF files.  You could adjust the compression and dots per inch settings of the virtual printer and then print the PDF to create a new smaller PDF.

I  able to do with virtual printers.  It looks like PDFWare would have worked but the trial version did not let me compress it and I didn't want to pay unless I knew it would be easier than virtual printers
