Exchange 2013 server not receiving emails from Exchange 2010 Transport


I've added an Exchange 2013 (Windows 2012R2, Mailbox and Client Access) in my existing Exchange 2010 (Windows 2008, Transport Role) structure. Everything works fine, I can connect the users and send emails.

Unfortunately I've got no incoming emails as the Exchange 2010 Transport server doesn't seem to be able to forward to the Exchange 2013 server.

My Exchange 2013 server doesn't show on the server list of the Exchange 2010, while it appears on the 2013 console.

I'm sure I'm missing something simple and stupid... :-)

You need to make sure that when you perform the cutover that your Exchange 2013 server is routing the mail from the outside. you 2013 CAS server needs to proxy/re-direct to the Exchange 2010 server. In most cases Exchange 2010 can proxy to Exchange 2013 but it is not a recommended practice. The latest version always needs to be the server routing the mail.

Exchange 2013 code is backward compatible with Exchange 2010, Exchange 2010 does not know Exchange 2013 for backward compatibility so you can run into issues if Ex2010 is proxying or re-directing to Exchange 2013.

Make sure that your virtual directories are also working properly.
