MS Access - Control Source

Hi Experts,

Ok yesterday I was able to do this:
I opened an existing report
there was text that has a string in the control Source
all I did was click once into the control Source and a window came up so I could see all within that text string.

Today I am trying to do the something yet the window does not want to come up and it is the same report.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

There should be ellipses (...) at the end of the ControlSource field.  Click those.

I only see a dropdown with no (...) and I will say that the report is the same one but different MDB's so maybe something is turned on in the one that was doing it and the other has it off?

I don't believe it's a db specific setting; I'm not sure it's a setting that can be configured at all.  Are you able to post a picture of the dialogue box?

If you right-click into the field do you have, in the pop-up context menu, the option to 'Zoom'?  That will display the same dialogue box.

Actually, right-click --> Zoom displays a simple Zoom box while the ellipses display the expression builder box.  Still not sure why the ellipses aren't displaying for you.

Curious, you indicate that in one db the ellipses are present in the ControlSource field for the report control but in another db the ellipses are missing.  Are the ellipses missing for all controls on all forms/reports in the particular db?  Or just that one control on the specified report?

actually I think I was wrong about the ellipses, I meant that on one click the zoom box was showing yet on another MDB it was not.  But after the comments about right click maybe I was doing that on the MDB but wasn't on the other.  So at least I have that straight now.  Thanks....
