Unable to Ping Hyper-V Servers after Windows Updates

I have a physical hyper-v host with 1 NIC. Server 2012 installed. 3 Virtual machines all using the same virtual switch. DC and EX are server 2008, FS is server 2012. After windows updates last night I cannot ping the DC or FS from any where, but can ping out from said servers. The weird thing is that when I run a steady ping on my host to DC or FS while the VM reboots I see a ping start then stop suddenly as soon as each machine its applying computer settings. Any ideas?

Things to try, first off make sure that you have install the guest integration tools, which makes sure that the NIC drivers are current on the guest virtual machine.  Second, delete and re-create the vSwitch and make sure they are set in the correct mode i.e: Bridged, NAT, etc that is appropriate for what environment you have.  Third remove and re-add your NIC's on your guest machines.

Simplify Active Directory Administration

Administration of Active Directory does not have to be hard.  Too often what should be a simple task is made more difficult than it needs to be.The solution?  Hyena from SystemTools Software.  With ease-of-use as well as powerful importing and bulk updating capabilities.

Next step would be to uninstall the updates that were applied last night and see if that resolves the issue.

Turns out updates werent installed on the FS, just the DC but both cannot be reached. Any chance it's a bad NIC?

Mitchell MilliganInformation Technology Network AdministratorCommented:
Potentially, but not likely.  NIC's don't die too often.  Next thought would be if updates were changed on the host server, or if the host server had any of the networking configs changed such as a static IP changed or something to that effect.  Changing a host ip address can have adverse effects on a vswitch.

Nothing like that was changed nor were there any updates.

I have these 3 event errors on the DC

404
407
408

Ok no one ask but did you check the firewalls?

File and print sharing must be enabled for IPv4 or IPv6

Check that
