Scrum, Product owner, Scrum Master, and Burn-Down chart

In Scrum, the Product Owner owns the Product Backlog (Task Board)

Does the Scrum Master own the Burn-down chart, or does the Product Owner>

Thanks

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The burndown is the actual results of the work being done.  However, because the Product owner controls the WHAT is being done the team controls the HOW it is being done.

So in summary the burndown is scrum team... not the product owner.

But who is responsible for preparing the Burn-down chart, the Product owner or the Scrum Master ?

The scrum master is the evangelist that keeps everything together.  The sprint team works the sprint tasks therefore once the team member is done with testing and the task is accepted as done by the product owner then that task points or time is calculated in the burndown.

Your question reaches the very heart of Scrum... The product owner should not have control of time ... In fact the team decides how much time each task will take.  Therefore saying the Product Owner is in control is defeating one of methods of Agile.

In summary the Scrum Master is ultimately responsible to update the burndown.
