AD in Cloud Azure

Hello all,

We have 50 Users with massive network usage (internet - streaming) infrastructure is Metro Line 100 \ 100.
Currently we have one server (2008 SRV) with Active directory and we consider to move to AD on cloud like Azure.
we would like to know the following:
1. is it the best choice for us according to describe above?
2. how can we calculate network bandwidth when using AD on cloud?
3.  what other things we must consider before we go forward?

Best Regards,

Asaf

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hey Asaf,

Why do you want to move your AD to the cloud?
And what is the AD server used for?
Are your users in a central office or soho?

Use a bandwidth monitoring tool of your choice to know how much your AD needs.

http://www.netlimiter.com/download (commercial, but will breakdown by application which is important).

You must also consider some HA/DR strategy that is different from your current practice. When a server is on premises, you have full access to it and can fix it, replace parts, and use external media to load or unload stuff. In the cloud things work differently, so be ready for storage snapshots, managing private images, instrumentation, monitoring.
