I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi Mike,
You didn't say what version of Acrobat you're using, but here's a tutorial that shows how to do it for Acrobat XI:

Hi Edwin,
I don't think that Bates Numbering is related to creating a custom, dynamic stamp, which is what Mike needs, but for folks who find this thread and are interested in Bates Numbering, here's another approach (via a 5-minute EE video Micro Tutorial) in addition to the two tools that are in your excellent article:
Bates Stamping/Numbering of PDF Files with Power PDF Advanced
