how to stop my download from going by defaul to my desktop
Hello,
I am helping a friend to stop his downloads from going directly ( by default) to his desktop. One of his friend change this settings somewhere and now every time she download something it goes straight to the desktop.
How can I restore to the default it ? how can I make it like it was before that when you download something a yellow toolbar on the bottom of the screen ask you where you would like to download your document ?
Where can I change this setting back to what it was ?
Thank you for your help

> do you think that setting that save everything directly to the desktop will affect also the new chrome Browser ?
Not sure I follow your meaning. If you mean... if you change it in Chrome, IE will be affected? If so, NO. IE must be set independently.

In iE, it remembers the last location you saved. This setting is in Internet options,.
Does the user get promoted when the download is needed where to save it or is it automatically starts to download?
Under the advanced tab, check the box notify when downloads complete.
The location where the download is stored is not the primary reason one should switch to a different browser.....
Under security, Internet, you can either reset to default, or edit the custom level and deal with the download options there in. Double check which zone, the domain in question is in in the event it behaves the same after the changes.

NewVIllage: Yes you understood properly. She has this problem with Internet explorer. she doesn't like IE. She asked me to install chrome. SO according to your answer the problem should be resolved right there just installing a different browser correct ? But I still would like to fix IE. so I can learn something new.

Great Arnold ! I fix it ! Thank you !
Question, by default before they messed up with the browser the box "Ask where to save each file......." was checked or unchecked ?
I am trying to bring it back to the original state.
Second question, I did a browser restore, should it have bring back the download to the original state ?
Thank, you.
