I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

All the time?  The system could be indexing, doing Windows updates, or doing Anti Virus updates. All of these will cause typing to slow once in a while but not always.

If always, check for malware and viruses.

Hi John At present its all the time, I have restarted several times. Stange, no AV scans happening,  No updates, VM's running.

Is your memory working properly?  You are getting a VMware Workstation message that I do not get on my Windows 8 machine with 8 GB and VMware Workstation 11.

I would do a complete memory test for starters.

Go into MSConfig (the executable), turn off any unnecessary services/tasks that are running, and start narrowing it down.  Sounds to me like something is running in the background.  Were there any recent changes?  Is your keyboard wired or wireless/Bluetooth?  Does it happen in Safe Mode?  Usual process of elimination here.
