Hi

During the WSUS installation I get this error:

If I don't choose a SQL instance, we can continue the installation but get this error after:

Logs:
WSUSSetup.log
WSUSSetupmsi-150505-1620.log

Information:
- WSUS (latest version) Installation on a Server 2008 R2 (up to date)
- SQL 2012 on a Server 2012 R2 (all up to date)

How can I install WSUS on this Server?

Many thanks in advance & have a nice day

You are trying to use an sql hosted somewhere else. Is it reachable (port accessible through telnet, user authorized)?

not supported
requires SQL 2005 or 2008 for WSUS 3.0 which was released before SQL 2012

Seems to work with SQL 2012 and '14, but there's a "BUT". But please be aware that "not supported" does not equal "does not work". Also note that that link is a forum, no official Microsoft voice.

Server 2012 (SQL) is in the same range, telnet to the port 1433 is working fine and the user is authorized in SQL 2012.

Ok, can other SQL tools connect?
If you need instructions, take your MS account and participate in the thread I linked. I guess someone in the know will help out.

- Yes we can.

We opened a MS case

The problem was with SQL. SQL was not configured properly. The 3rd party Tool fixed the problem after MS showed it to us.
