computer went sleeps while working on PC?
Hi,
I had a computer (windows 7 pro, 64x) that goes blank every about 10 or minutes. Its so strange because the settings (screen saver) are all set to none or never.
At the "put the computer to sleep" the mode set to NEVER. Also at the "change advanced power settings > hard disk > turn off hard disk after > 0.
This is so annoying because while im still working on pc this could happens, my screen just went into sleep mode. I have to press power up again onto my box so that i can resume my work.
I checked all the settings and set them to Never for sleeping.
Will it be the hardware problem? the computer box is fine, its a brand new box. This happens very frequent and I am annoyed by it.

Does the computer go to sleep or just the monitor turns off?
Try upgrading or reinstalling the Power Management driver from the computer vendor.
Also, consider returning the machine right away because it could indeed be a hardware problem (I never had a machine suspend while I was using it) and so you would want it replaced.

If this is a notebook, it could be that the battery is low, or in bad shape, maybe you need to replace the battery. Check the BIOS settings, and maybe it needs upgrading too.

the machine is a desktop and not laptop/notebook.

There might still be a power management driver. Also run SFC /SCANNOW from an admin command prompt and restart when you have done this.

how would i know the result if there is any problems with the driver?
Easy . A working computer will not suspend while you are working on it. Also check all the advanced power settings.

i am refferring to sfc scannow command. what happens after the test?

SFC may find and fix errors. If it does that, see over time if the machine does or does not suspend while working.

the problem was the keyboard. there seemed to be a malfunction with the keyboard itself. have replaced and the problem has sorted now.
