cannot install quickbook update

I am needing to install the latest update (R16) for quickbooks pro 2012 but when attempting to install the update I get the error "There is not enough space on drive C:\ to extract this package."   I don't believe this because I still have 304 GB of space left on Drive C.
Any help on this issue would be appreciated

i did do a repair on quickbooks and it resolved a couple of other issues i had, but it did not resolve windows update. It is still saying that there is not enough space on drive C
Concerning your mention of subscription I purchased quikbooks 2012 in September of 2012 and to my knowledge it was not a subscription.

Also, since I am running quickbooks only on this computer do I still need to run the Network Diagnostics tool?
I just thought of something else - I am running quickbooks 2012 on windows 10 pro Insider Preview.  Do you think that might have something to do with it?  Quickbooks is running OK now.  I was thinking that an update would resolve the other two issues I had, but since I run the repair those other issues went away. Now the only thing I can't do is the update.

Thank you for taking the time to help me with this issue.  At this time I am not going to worry about it as long as my quickbooks is running as good as it is.

Agains thanks a million
@beemmer  - Thanks for the update. If you go with Windows 10 when released, you will probably need a new version of QuickBooks.
