Loud X3500 m3 Redundant Power Supply

Hi Everyone,

I have a IBM x3500m3 that has a extremely loud Power supply.

It is a Redundant Power Supply 39Y7386

It is going into a small office so the loudness of the server is a issue.

I did but a x3650 m2 in there in which it was too loud and so i decide to put a x3500 tower thinking that towers are always quieter then racks

Anyway, i have update all the updates on the machine and still no difference

Is this just how they are or is there something else i can do?

To be honest the x3650m2 seem to be quieter, the PS is reeving very fast it seems.

Thanks Adam

It is how it is. Servers don't belong into offices where people go in and out. They should be in airconditioned server rooms that are locked up, so no unauthorized people can directly manipulate it. As Air-con itself is noisy, the noise of the server won't bother most people...

Understand what you are saying and agree with most bigger situations but this customer only has 2 people in the office so to have a dedicated server room air-con etc will not be suitable on this site

Thanks Adam

Then get a normal PC and use that as a "server". Or create a makeshift server room to put the server into. Even two-people offices usually have more than one rooms.
