exchange server global search

does exchange 2010 have any features to search all mailboxes in a database for a specific phrase? if so what feature in exchange allows you to do so? And can you export the search results easily?
Do the searches take an eternity to run if you have a large number of mailboxes?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Specifically for this you use the Powershell cmdlet Search-Mailbox. See an example below...

Depending on how large your Exchange environment is and also the number of mailboxes and Items in these mailboxes will determine the length of the search. If you are searching all mailboxes it could take awhile.

The example below will search all mailboxes for emails with a Subject that has "Your bank Statement" and produce a log in the SearchAndDeleteLog folder.
Get-Mailbox -ResultSize "unlimited" |
Search-Mailbox-SearchQuery "Subject:'Your bank statement'" -TargetMailbox "administrator" -TargetFolder "SearchAndDeleteLog" -LogOnly -LogLevel Full

You can also use the GUI as well but you have more flexibility with powershell.

For additional examples for Search-Mailbox cmdlet use the following command...
Get-Help Search-Mailbox -examples
