I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

To add or remove blocked file types by using Central Administration, log on as a farm admin and go to Central Administration.

-Click Security.
-On the Security page, in the General Security section, click Define blocked file types.
-On the Blocked File Types page, if you want to change the selected web application, on the Web Application menu, click -Change Web Application.
-Use the Select Web Application page to select a web application.

To block an additional file type, scroll to the bottom of the Type each file name extension on a separate line text box, type the file name extension that you want to block, and then click OK.

No. Blocked file types are blocked for everyone including admins.

If Database size if your concern, you could lower the allowed upload file size from the default of 50Mb to something like 10Mb.

We’d all like to think our company’s data is well protected, but when you ask IT professionals they admit the data probably is not as safe as it could be.
