"revocation information for the security certificate for this site is not available" when responding to email

hi guys

One of our colleagues got the message above when trying to respond to an email. They asked me why that came up and I didn't have the answer. I understand if it came from a website, as that would mean the certificate had been revoked? But under these circumstances, I didn't get it?

Any ideas what this means?

Thank you

Do you use forced proxy server so they have no direct internet access??? In turn firefox or IE will not ask proxy credential and fail to verify SSL site directly reachable.

a certificate has many properties i.e. not valid before, not valid after, CRL list.
A certificate may by the date be valid but the issuer has revoked it so it should not be used.
