Security essentials is allowed to install on server OS's. But if you want to install other software that isn't allowed to run on server OS's, you can't do that. You would be violating the licenses for those software titles, and that isn't allowed.

Simple answer is: don't be cheap and buy the appropriately licensed version of the software for Windows Server.

Also, as a consultant/Systems Engineer, you would never catch me suggesting to a client or installing Security Essentials on a server.  The application is terrible in Windows, I sure as heck wouldn't trust it to protect my server.

If the application does not have a server variant and you want to install it on your server then there are ways, but you will have to google them to find out.

And as always it would be useful if you told us WHAT the application in question was called.
Is it Licensed for installation on a Server?
