You pointed me in the right direction. The addresses were hidden from the GAL. Once I unhid the addresses, they appeared in Outlook's distribution group.<br />

Yes you can add mail contacts to a group when they are hidden. You need to do this from the EMC and not from Outlook because Outlook references the GAL. <br />
